Semester 2 -Statement of Intent
Within the Advanced Art Practices course, for the second semester, I plan on continuing with my recreations of Fairy Tale characters and stories. I am definitely sticking to my four choices of Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel & Gretel and Three Billy Goats Gruff.
Over the course of the first semester I have completed nearly all of my character trials where I did each character’s makeup and costume and took documentation photos. I completed the characters of Rapunzel, Rapunzel’s Enchantress, Little Red Riding Hood, the Wolf, The Billy Goat, Hansel, and the Witch. I also completed the first photo shoot for my recreated version of Rapunzel. To make sure my stories were my own and unique, I researched every Fairy Tale’s multiple historic versions. Before the second semester began (during Christmas break), I completed the second photo shoot of my version of Little Red Riding hood.
Starting into the second semester, I know I need to first complete the rest of my character trial images for the stories. The character recreations I have not yet complete are Gretel and the Troll. After I complete the makeup and costuming for the final two characters of the Fairy Tale stories, all that is left before the last two photo shoots is to find their Locations.
As soon as the locations are solved I will need to arrange a date to complete the Three Billy Goats photo shoot that works with my model. Once that is complete I will have to arrange another time that works for completion of the last photo shoot (Hansel & Gretel). I will have to figure out a time that works for both models’ schedules as well as the owner’s schedule of whatever property I might need to use for the indoor scene I have in mind.
Finally, upon completion of all four photo shoots, I will have to select 4 images of each series to tell my story the best way. If there is a series that doesn’t have 4 images to do my story justice I may need to retake some photos. Once all the images are taken and 4 are chosen for each series, I will begin to edit them. I don’t plan on doing a ton of editing besides maybe sharpening and enhancing some colors or adding things I may not have been able to do when the photos were taken. For example, possibly adding more blood splatters or hiding any makeup edges. I may also need to adjust the white balance and color balance so that images where I used varying lights within the same series still look like they belong together. Then I will have to size the images for print by figuring out how big my space is and what size will fit best for 16 images on the wall space. After all the edits are complete I will lay them out for print and VOILA!
The second semester is going to be A LOT of time management and arranging proper times with models and location owners that work for everyone’s schedule.
